The 6th Scandinavian Winter Swimming Championships

The 6th Scandinavian Winter Swimming Championships, 5th stage of the IWSA World Cup set a new record, with 400 winter swimmers taking part in this amazing event.

Winter swimming in Sweden is growing and getting popular. And a new participant amount record for the 6th Scandinavian Winter Swimming Championships marked this statement as true.

A total of 400 winter swimmers, from 21 countries around the world took part in this event. Also, the amount of relay teams grew - almost 2 times more, as the regular team amount was around 20, this year 38 teams took on the relay swim. All of the participants were able to swim the following distances:

  • 25m Breaststroke,
  • 50m Freestyle,
  • 100m Freestyle,
  • 4x25m Breaststroke Relay.

The youngest participant was Aleksandr Jakovlevs from Latvia, at 14 years old, who is the son of IWSA vice-president, Aleksandr Jakovlevs. The oldest participant was Dane Jan Johansen from Sweden, 77 years old.
